CNC Router Cutting Bed is the place where all the work working. This board helps in supporting and securing the materials being carving and cutting. T-slot table top is the most commonly used design and uses bolts and clamps to secure materials. Linear Drive Systems The linear drive system helps the spindles to move along the axis and it includes a motor, lead screw assembly, and a linear bearing system. To link the mechanics and electronics, a motor is needed to make the component complete. The CNC controller provides the motor with power and hence achieving a rotational power when the lead screw assembly is needed. Two types of motors are found on the CNC wood router machine. They include the stepper motor and servo motors. The stepper motors have a un-closed-loop system, are cheap and have good performance ability. Servo motors have a closed-loop system. They receive directions from the CNC controller and transmit signals to a controller that verifies the completion of work. The high-end models usually have closed-loop systems. The type of controller used usually depends on the motor type. The control of these two types of motors is not the same. The power offered by the motor has to be converted from rotational to linear motion. It’s at this stage the lead screw assembly takes control of power. The linear bearing assembly together with the lead screw assembly works simultaneously to move the gantry along its axis. Different machine designs use varying methods when converting rotational motion to linear motion. This varying makes some machine designs better than the others. Some common designs include: Lead screw and nut assembly Ball screw and nut assembly Rack and pinion assembly CNC Router gantry style design is the most commonly used style by CNC wood routers. The Y-axis is usually suspended over the cutting board. The gantry assembly glides well on the linear bearing assembly to allow easy movement along the X-axis.
